Soon graduation pharmacy school to become a pill pusher, or druggist or whatever u want to call it, and picking a state/town to settle is kind of hard. I've been searching online for some information on good areas to settle in but can't seem to find anything whatsoever.


Any suggestions of towns that have a good reputation for pharmacists to live in right after graduation?

a nice urban one. Not too big like new york on LA or something crazy like that. Fairly sized, about 50 - 80000ppl

Where are you right now? Because 50k-80k people is pretty damn small and will really limit your choices (tight market).

Florida. Preferably closer to South Florida. Lots of old people here who needs drugs and medicine.

My uncle is a pharmarcist manager for Walgreens. He gets around 70-80/hr, but he's been doing it for ~20 years. But you have to be able the humidity and comminuties of old people. (Main reason why I'm leaving South Florida)

texarkana(it's in tx and ar). 2 major hostpitals. 65K or so people(at least on the ar side.)

decent sized town and it's only growing more and more.

Before I moved out of Phoenix a couple of years ago, I knew a couple of pharmacist working retail (7 on, 7 off) and would work a part time job (hospital, home health company) on the side. Some of them were bringing in 180k/yr right out of school. Cost of living is relativly inexpensive compaired to alot of big cities. 3 hrs from the mountains (Flagstaff, Mogillon Rim), 4 hrs from the beach (San Diego, Puerto Penasco, MX).

Phx sounds like a really nice place to live. I actually have some friends who live there and they seem to like it very much.

I was talking to a pharmacist I work for today, and he told me that if he were to graduate in this times, he would join the air force. He told me the air force pays very very well, and that you retire after 20years. that's just insane I think to retire after just 20 years. I'll still be very young but how sweet with that be. Plus according to him, you get to travel lots which that's a plus for me, but my parents (mom especially) doesn't like the idea

You would be in the same line as the Surgeon General. AF Pharmacists are ballers. My girlfriend is a pharmacist student at the University of Texas at Austin, and through Indian Health Services, has an awesome gig lined up.

I'm affraid of hurricanes. haha.. i shouldn't say that.

I've also heard of some insane deals going on in Alaska. Someone I know got offered 500K for two years with all sorts of things paid for him and he turned it down because he wanted to get married
