I haven't enjoyed Hershey's since I discovered that Lindt's is available practically everywhere.

It's okay on s'mores, but I only eat s'mores maybe once a year when camping.

Premium chocolate might cost several times more than Hershey's, but I only need a square or two in a sitting with the really good chocolate. I bought Amedei Toscano Brown and Amano Ocumare Milk bars one time, that stuff is so good. I can't justify buying it regularly, though, it's just too expensive.

Lindt (I like 70% cocoa) is the best, common premium chocolate.

Just got a bar of dark chocolate with mint from the supermarket. 3 small squares was enough to satiate my craving. Rich flavor with just enough mint. It was $3 for a bar, but that will last me almost a week.

I loved Hershey's as a kid, but now I go for the good stuff. Less sugar, more subtle flavors, and it's actually cheaper because I don't eat much at a time. Hershey's premium chocolates aren't terrible, though.

So not only does it not even have cocoa in it now, it doesn't have cocoa butter either?

Even lindt is gradually cheapening out on their recipes. I noticed they started putting malt something or other in their little round truffles. That said, buy the Lindt bar with Chili in it for smores. That makes for a crazy good smore.

Yeah, they probably are trying to save money since they produce so much. That's the problem with most of the big chocolate making companies.

I have to try the Chili one, though. Wouldn't have thought to use it for smores, but I bet it does taste good.

Not that I disagree with you in principle, but doesn't it still say "Milk Chocolate" on the front?

Not if it's using a cocoa butter substitute. They have to say "chocolate candy" or "made FROM chocolate" but it no longer can be called pure milk chocolate by FDA standards I believe. This started all the way in 2008 though.

I usually like chocolate but hersheys is the most godawful POS ive ever tasted. I tried it back ~2001 during a family trip to florida and spat it out as it tasted like a sweaty sock! I tried it again last year and it was better but still pretty crap.

This is the best chocolate i have ever tasted:

Asda = walmart in the UK, this stuff is 30p a bar and tastes fantastic.

If you have Dollar Generals in your area, they have their own brand of chocolate candy bars; they're made in France (iirc), and 100% of the proceeds go to literacy programs. $1 each & 10 times better than Hershey's.

thanks. i'll definitely have to check that out. the literacy rate in France is 99%, so i don't really care about that

Ugh. Growing up, I used to love Hershey's. I didn't realize they'd changed the formula, but it sounds like I'm not buying any more.

Shit, Walmart sells Ghirardelli bars now for $2.50 so there's really no need to go any lower. PS. Ghirardelli caramel and dark bars are so good.
