PGP and Win2K shutdown problem?

My co-worker recently had PGP 9.0 installed on his computer running Win2K. Since the installation, he has been unable to shut down his computer using the Windows shut-down command. Whenever he initiates the shut-down process the computer just sits there. The computer will only shut down when the power switch is pressed.

In looking through the running processes looking for the culprit, and mindful of the likelihood that the most recent config change has caused this problem, I tried shutting down PGPserv.exe using the Task Manager. When the shutdown is attempted, the message "The operation could not be completed. Access is denied." appears. His user account has admin permissions, so there shouldn't be an issue there.

Anyone have any ideas? Could there be an unrelated problem causing the shutdown issue?
