As a Chinese-American, I win either way. If China wins, I say hell yeah, all hail the motherland!. And if the US of A wins, 'Murica! ...Can I be a Chinese Redneck?

.................................................... As a person who knows many Hong Kongers, I could tell you exactly who they think fit that descriptor.

I have experience with Mardi Gras parades. I saw a 60 year old man shove a 4 year old kid to the ground for a sting of plastic beads. The parades I went to were not in New Orleans, so they were civilized for the most part.

About 30 seconds after the parade is over with, the beads become worthless trash. That said, it's awesome fun to catch them while the parade is happening.

Society is supposed to be civilized now, and righteous, low-level violence is to be eschewed in favor of using our words and civil suits in a court of law. I'm not sure if we are better or worse off compared to the days when a person who exhibited poor behavior, such as pushing a child to the floor to steal their beads, was taken outside and roughed up a little to teach him a lesson.

Good men are taught that there is never a reason to resort to violence of any kind, while evil men often use it with near impunity. Maybe folks would learn to be more polite and considerate if they knew hurting others would be answered in kind.

I'm not convinced it would work, but it is frustrating to see so much bad behavior going unpunished in what is supposed to be a civilized society.

Having done the Mardi Gras in Nola thing myself, I can tell you that the idea of the whole 'I need to buy a BUNCH of beads to see tits!' thing is just completely wrong.

1) You will see tits, regardless of beads
2) There are so many 'used' beads strewn all over the streets that you can collect more than enough to last you the entire time

It's weird how events such as these make grown adults act like 12 year old children again. If my parents ever made the newspaper for misbehaving at an easter egg hunt, I'm not even sure what I'd do.

They should bait those terrible parents with an Easter Egg hunt event, record them from multiple angles in hi-def, then plaster their images and videos all over the public so people can identify them, and shame them.
