The Pew Research Center for People and the Press, which purports to be nonpartisan and, in my opinion, has a pretty good reputation, just published a report that will probably come as no surprise to the people on this board. Their survey shows that political opinion in America is evenly divided and polarization is increasing. The survey points out that the more intelligent people tend to be liberal. :) (Crimson and Cad, that's a joke, the survey doesn't really say that -- although it is true.)

Heh - your comment would be funny if certain people didn't actually believe it and talk as such.

Pretty interesting poll - as always. Seems to cement my opinion that optimists are us and pessimists are them;)

I'm still waiting to see who this "generic Democrat" person is:p Is it Hillary the dark horse?;)

Gonad 1, Whitling 0. I'm chagrined. (Boy, I hope I picked the right word there, or should I say "their")).

Yeah, I noted the "Pew Poll" findings yesterday. The state I originally come from (Kentucky) provided some interesting results for this survey.

According to the Pew Research Center, Kentucky ranks as the 5th 'most religious', 3rd 'most traditional' and number 1 'most hawkish' state in the union. Comparatively speaking, Mississippi beat Kentucky in the overall rankings as they are 2nd 'most religious', number 1 'most traditional' and 3rd 'most hawkish'.

<insert usual stereotypical remark of choice here>

A second bite here. Gonad, I guess I'd have to plead guilty about insulting other people's intelligence. Although there are always alternative versions of "facts," I find myself frustrated by a couple of things on this (and every other) board. One is an astonishing lack of factual and historical knowledge. Second, I think the Internet provides us with a genuine new medium for exchanging ideas. In general, like to see sources cited. The board members are then capable of evaluating the worth of the source. I tend to be particularly hard on blow it out your A$$ opinions that are sometimes expressed here without any reference to a factual basis. As you may have notice, I'm willing to make predictions about the future of Iraq, which is the subject that interests me most. And Iraq will be a bigger mistake than Viet Nam although it will probably not last as long as the Viet Nam controversy lasted.
