If the anniversary of 9/11 is coming up and you have a consulate in a hot spot and you are SOS do you make sure you have plenty of US Marines on hand? I think you do. Hillary didn't. That was the failure, not the description of what happened.

Do you know why they didn't have the consulate heavily guarded? Do you know what ambassador Stevens was doing there and his goals? Because if you did you wouldn't be claiming the situation was so black and white.

Is day to day security the concern of the SOS or should she delegate that sort of thing to the security professionals?

Picking up on your train of thought, it seems to me that there was much more going on at the consulate than we will ever know due to national security concerns. IIRC, there was that heretofore unidentified CIA building that one of the Repub committee members stupidly referred to during one of the many useless hearings on the attack. As well, there's probably a shitload of other factors both physical and intellectual that had a direct effect on what happened and why things happened the way they did.

I get the feeling that even the Repubs knew where the line was drawn as far as where their "investigations" took them.

To be fair, I am sure she left all the work to the plebs beneath her.

She was lazy and incompetent, and then lied to try to cover her ass.

Benghazi isn't anywhere near as much of a fake scandal as people like to believe. The issue is Hillary has gotten away with so many at this point, even legitimate concerns are dismissed offhand.

She has been involved in so many scandals, that the villagers no longer believe the wolf is coming. Hell, they think the wolf isn't even a threat anymore! Of course, the wolf was actually in the hen house, rather than the pastures, the whole time.

But that is nothing new.

The old adage that "crying wolf 1000 times will make it true" just is very outdated. Eventually a wolf would show up.

Some political campaigns still seem to think it will work, I guess.

The "broken watch is right once a day" thing is more accurate.

Trying to equate modern day politics to something along the line of old fairy tales is weak thinking to begin with.

A single terroristic attack that killed 4 people. We have spent what..... $100 million per dead American for this investigation? The investigation of this event is the scandal. That money would have been better spent on the poor rather than for Republicans to further a political agenda. Scum....

Not just embassies. Remember, the Benghazi office wasn't even a formal consulate. It was more of an outpost, or maybe a branch office. I wonder how many properties State has around the world.

Republicans care more about virtually anything on the planet than they do about the poor. And they care more about their political agenda than they do anything on the planet. So long as they're given even a modicum of power they will waste and waste and waste money on political agendas, taking as much of it FROM the poor as they can to do so.

When you have no real plan to help your fellow working/middle class Americans what else is there to do but investigate and obstruct. Investigations are shinny objects for the flock.

That's Trillions down the hole! If we had spent that money at home, we could have completely fixed our infrastructure, including a green power grid!
