Petition Urges Sesame Street's Bert And Ernie To Wed

My understanding is that Ernie's persona is supposed to be about eight-ten years old with Bert being a bit older so if they want to get married they'll have to wait until they grow up.

Besides, do existentialists get married?
 
In the beginning I'm sure B&E were just supposed to be two guys living together as roommates. And as far as kids are concerned that's probably all they ever will be. But as adults it's basically impossible to escape the conclusion that these guys are most likely a gay couple. I mean 30 odd years together and they do everything with each other? LOL But yeah let the kids decide I'm 100% for gay marriage but there's no need to bring that into the discussion here. If anything it seems like a conservative thing to do, not liberal. Why must they get married? Can't two gay guys live together as just partners their whole lives. Plenty of hertosexual couples do. Isn't THAT the liberal message? Not they are together they should get married?

Well if they are conservatives then they should get married and then divorced. Maybe Bert could get caught with Snuffleupagus and duckie.

As a strong proponent of gay equal rights including gay marriage, I'm against this. Not strongly against - if it happened there would be some good - but more against than for.

Absolutely nothing good can come of it...and IMO, it's even more stupid than declaring that Dumbledore was homosexual after he was killed off.

Gay marriage isn't, hasn't, and never will be just about two adults getting married. Its a movement and what better place to start than with children. This is nothing compared to the things in the name of tolerance the movement is exposing kids too. They say that sexuality is something you are born with. Ok then lets leave the kids alone and let them discover what their sexuality is on their own. Its work all these thousands of years.
