Petition Urges Sesame Street's Bert And Ernie To Wed

Cookie Moster eating veggies, now this? Stop messing with Sesame Street. :'(

Well they have been denying it for years, I think we all knew the truth. "Rubber duckie"? Please. We all know what they meant by that.

"Hey Bert, wanna play 'Hide the duckie?'"

Although, I am all for gay marriage, lets leave the kids out of this. Sesame Street is not the place to try and introduce sexuality, straight or gay to children. To a child two adult males living together is just that two adult males living together, they don't think about the relationship between them sexually.

wtf? this is a harmless kids show. Why the hell do they have to be gay just because they live together?

Same for the whole carl + larry thing from the simpsons.

People just can't leave good enough alone. No gayness found.

I agree, could care less about gay marriage. Go for it. But do we really need to be force feeding 5 and 6 year old kids equality messages and stressing that there are gay people out there?

This message would be sent to kids who at that age, already think "ew, girls" or "ew, boys". They'll all be running around thinking they're gay because they don't like girls or boys.

no kidding.. are we no longer allowed to have anything that's not gay?

exactly. the idea is completely preposterous. there is absolutely no reason to involve sexuality in Sesame Street. Two dudes living together and two chicks living together is just that to the kids, nothing more needs to be said.

besides, most kids, today, already get that. SS doesn't need to be yet another venue to enforce something that kids of that age really don't need to be concerned with. counting, reading, sharing, and jamming to some Stevie Wonder--that's all they should be doing, tbfh.

The LBGT movement is just looking for something attention grabbing. Gotta stay in the headlines somehow. Actually, this reminds me of a cartoon from an issue of MAD I had as a kind. It was poking fun at Ellen coming out on her show, and wonder what it would be like if other shows came out. Sesame Street was one of them. Is MAD prophetic? 😛

I agree that it should be left out of a kids show. Sesame Street is targeted at kids under 6. They're too young to understand complex issues like sexual orientation at that age. Besides, Bert and Earnie were always presented as being roommates. Is everyone with a same sex roommate now gay? 😀

I'm pretty sure we as a society apparently have too much time on our hands if this is something someone thought was needed.
