Iraq... Bush's war based on WMDs that did not exist. Which had ~300 casualties in 2 months of combat when Bush declared Mission Accomplished. We should have gone home THAT DAY, before 36,000 more could be killed or wounded.
The war was over May1st, 2003. The nation building is what cost us so dearly and so much.
Tough to celebrate a preemptive, electable war that turned a dictatorship into an Islamic Anarchist's Cookbook, which removed Iran's only regional rival and sped their ascendency as an Islamic NUCLEAR power.
The veterans should be honored for their service, but let us be clear that their mission was tainted from the very beginning, and damn near ALL of them need not have been sacrificed in the first place. The Parade might as well bare a banner reading 'Thanks for dying so we could play around in the desert for 9 years'.
Better service to them might be medical care and job opportunities, an organized effort to get their lives back in shape. The war itself is a dishonor to them and our nation.
Damn we don't see eye to eye on much, but I have to give you a big thumbs up on that post. Agree with everything you said
