I thought it would be nice to share, especially for when the frenzy of the XBOX 2 comes out sometime next year. Here is a well respected site to sign a petition to make the next XBOX backwards compatible.Petition Wesite!

Microsoft wants to make more money.

They can make more money by making the Xbox 2 backwards compatible.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Wow, why does it not make sense for them to please their current xbox owners? Seems like it would be an ethical thing to do considering their competition did it, who also might I add is dominating the market.

They can't make it backwards compatible because they are using completely different hardware, so they would have to "emulate" the original Xbox hardware to run old games, and it'd be too much trouble. I also read something about licensing fees on old games since they switched from nvidia to ati. I don't know how much of that is true, but those are just some of the things I've read.

Changes are they have the thing done already and won't bother adding new stuff this late to it with the possible exception of newer graphic card since it's not such a big deal.

I'm sure it's something that's crossed their minds already though...Because google is the devil, can someone tell me when XBOX2 is being released?

XBox 2 next year?

I thought 2006 was the year for the new consoles. Did they change it?

Won't the "current Xbox owners" already own an Xbox?

I don't see what the big deal about backwards compatibility is. If I get an XBOX 2 and still want to play XBOX games, I'll play them on my XBOX.

Only thing I see is that people don't want too many consoles under their TV. Not that big of a problem, because the original console always plays its own games best. I mean, PS2 can't play some PS1 games.

EDIT: Except for the dreamcast playing playstation games. Dreamcast rules.
