I'm working on some stuff that might help move the visa stuff along... maybe... but its a complete shot in the dark.

One of the tactics I was thinking was getting a lot of people to sign a petition and/or write/call directly to the USCIS.

If I get to that point and am ready to take action, how many of you would be willing to help?

Please do. I like you and I know you're having a tough time, but I need to know more about your situation before I can commit to doing anything like that.

Wtf? Sagalore's fiancee is Indian (IIRC). They're doing this the legal way, so there's no reason not to support them.

Not everybody here reads every thread and knows this

Your link to your thread didn't help. But I think I remember. Come up with a form letter and make it easy for us to do. I don't have time to write a letter but I would be more than willing to print them out and sign it... also might be able to get a couple people here at work to do the same thing and some family members. I have a few stamps I can spare. Aesthetics may be willing to help by getting people to sign a letter at her high school.

Well... I appreciate the consideration... but I don't want this to turn into a completely blind petition. You guys know me (indirectly) so I think that would be enough support.

Oh, I didn't see that thread. I'll gladly sign a petition. Have you talked to any immigration lawyers?

Yep I have. His best advice was to cancel, get officially married, and start over with a I-130. Even the immigration lawyers don't see much hope once it gets into this status.

Fair enough, but I think amdhunter just likes to troll these threads. It's annoying, since Sagalore offers so much good advice around here.

I think you're going to come across as foolish and worsen your case if you get a bunch of letters from people on an internet forum who do not know you and your lady friend personally. Aside from the authorities probably not caring about any letters, if I am an immigration department administrator what I am going to think when I see these letters is "Does this person have a hard enough time assimilating into a community that she has to get random internet users to sign form letters for support?"

 for legal immigration.

My brother-in-law had a similar situation. Married a South African girl he met in London; even post-apartheid, South Africans can have a helluva time getting through the red tape.

Count me in, but Farang has a point.
