Pete Davidson Apologizes to Lt. Com. Dan Crenshaw - SNL

#bothsides acting like adults and coming together. Nice moment. In case you are unaware a few weeks ago Pete made a joke about Dan's eye patch.

The faux outrage was funnier than the skit.

Anyone who'd been in the military knows he's heard way worse while in. If anyone in my division had an effing eye patch, the pirate jokes from everyone would have been nonstop. Wouldn't matter a bit how he got it.

I had no idea there was outrage over it. I did see the first incident live and then the follow-up the other night. Thought it was pretty good.

I didn't get the outrage. Seemed like just a good joke.
The guy has a an eyepatch. Eyepatches are generally funny.

Oh I don’t know. The Pete Davidson is what would happen if the meth from Breaking Bad became alive joke was pretty good.

I don't think it was the joke so much as Pete Davidson seeming to laugh and mock him losing his eye in combat right after the joke.

At any rate, Crenshaw seems like a good guy, good of SNL to have him on and all parties move on.

So a bunch of whiny PC loving snowflakes got their feelings hurt by a joke? Is that about the gist of it?

I wish there was a shirt that covered this...

It's pretty obvious the outrage was by the snowflakes, who felt this likening of a wounded war hero to a porn actor was definitely neither correct nor appropriate. How telling that this uproar wasn't caused by an elected government official, or Mango Unchained himself via tweet, but over a skit on a comedy show.

Crenshaw didn't appear to be outraged at all himself, which scans as meat eaters are used to having much worse thrown at them. What time was spent in reacting to the skit seems to be the predictable grab for a headline that makes Hollywood out to be mean, at a time where stories involving republicans revolve around corruption, criminal acts, possible treason, sexism and racism. He probably had to address it because those around him were saying he should, it was just election season. Davidson's dad being killed in 9/11 carries some weight with Crenshaw too, not surprised he worked that into his dialogue.

I give props to both. Crenshaw for his service downrange and for putting his Limbaugh-esque side on hold for a bit. Davidson for being classy enough to issue an apology, in person, on camera, and to orchestrate receiving a drubbing in the process. Getting to party with either of them would be a hell of a lot of fun I bet.

Controversy not found. Pete Davidson made a joke in poor taste, but SNL handled it well by bringing Crenshaw on, who in turn acknowledged the death of Davidson’s father on 9/11.
