My roommate and I have Office 2007. I love using Calibri and our other project member has 2k3 only, so he converted my wonderful decorations into plain old boring Times New Roman.

Office2K FTW. The Equation Editor on 2007 is awful to use, and I happened to need it a lot this semester. But switching between versions, Office2k7 simply converts all the equations to images, so they can't be edited with older versions. Very convenient.

I've gotten so fed up with office 07 that I've gone to OpenOffice.

I've gotten so fed up with Vista that I'm either going to learn open source or track down a cheap copy of XP. If I go back to XP I'll probably get 2k3 back again, if I go ubuntu I'll try to be a nerd and just stick with the free shit.

Office XP ftw. Fulfills all my Office-y needs, no reason to ever upgrade!

Office 2007 > Office 2000 > dogshit > Office 2003

I can't see how there is so much hate. All but one or two functions in Word 2007 I found very quickly for the first time. So I don't understand how some people have such a hard time with it. I bet it's a joy in the workplace to have most people have no clue what to do since their beloved Word was changed. The interface is FAR FAR better in 2007.

I started using 2007 4-5 months before my school got it, so I had the same problems with group projects. But I thought I recall that typing a document with Calibri and saving in the 2003 format, that loading it in 2003 would keep the font (as if its embedded in the .doc or something) fine. Now at least most people have 2007, except people with their damn Macs and Linux machines. And don't get me started on OpenOffice...

But it is going away. We're finding other products to use instead.

If it only cost me $10 to upgrade, legally, from Office 2003 to Office 2007 (The Full spiel) should I do it, or is it that bad.

Not many fortune 500 companies are going to switch from MS Office to something else.

Do it and I'll buy it off you for $20 if you hate it :)

Very few companies will use something instead of an Office product and even if you work in one that does, odds are you will be dealing with other clients who do use Office so you will benefit from being familiar with it anyways. You can also hold off for as long as possible to upgrade but most do not wait that long either.

In the end, most people would benefit from learning how to use 2007 whether they choose to do that while at work or at home. You can only gain by learning it considering how many companies use Office and will eventually upgrade to 2007.
