I really dislike it when people include a very recent date when they make claims. For example - before tonight's NFL game they were referencing how "no one has repeated SuperBowl wins since the Patriots did it back in 2003 and 2004."

Really? 2003 and 2004 is that long ago? I get that it is technically correct but that time frame really isn't that big of a deal. I am not impressed by your stat. Now if you had said that for something that happened 15 years ago that would be something.

/end weak rant

What gets me is when they say "An eclipse has not happened in over 9000 billion years". I've seen like at least 5 in my life time. :awe:

5/10. It is a stupid thing. I also hate them pulling all sorts of stats out of their asses just to have something to talk about. They're often just straight up pointless and stupid, and seems like half the time they're outright wrong. I can't remember what game it was, but I think Fox went out of their way to show 3 different stupid stats and all of them were wrong. It was junk like the last team to play their final road game of the season not at the opposing teams home field. Who fucking cares.

this goes both ways.

'we haven't had an earthquake like this in 100 years!'

....what's the typical cycle on these events? about a hundred years, you say? hmm.

I'm not a fan of it either. Anyone remember the daily "Crude oil prices reached another record high" occurances a few years ago? Well, here's a thought: if gas prices are at a record high one day, and the next day it goes up yet again, then NO CRAP it's a "new" record high, huh? 🙄 And then, as OP referenced, it's an equally mind-numbing reference to "the highest price since yesterday" - but maybe it's just the way I am; I'm not a fan of dealing with stupidity. Yet I hang around the forums... :hmm: :colbert:
