Dig, increasing human population; strange hot/dry weather patterns (El Nino, La Ninya); melting of the polar regions. Each not too troublesome. Combined, rather scary.

But I'm actually one of those optimitist who feel we'll lick this problem. I just would rather start now but I'm a proactive kinda guy. Heck, 10 years from now I might be driving a hydrogen-powered car that just happens to produce all my drinking water as a bonus. The Japanese automakers might even include a built-in ice-maker. Such a deal..

The free market will deal with this problem. If the supply of usable water becomes low enough that there's profit in water, stand back and watch companies pour tons of money into water filtration research.

The free market cures all. :)

Thank god iceland has enough fresh water to last the next few hundred years at least.
