To those that have taken the real test: how many questions are there on it? I am kind of looking for answers as far as career and school goes. I know I am 36 almost 37 and haven't finished college. I need something to point me in the right direction.

Thanks

I've never done a poll before.

I wouldlike for people to post in the thread.

I remember getting INFP on serveral tests over the years. Sounds kind of like a good type to be, but the career choices and stuff is troubeling.

Thanks for posting everyone. Keep on posting.

Your MBTI link says:

You are a ?Healer Idealist?

Moderately Introverted (56% strength), attraction is away from world and toward essence and ideal for these usually gentle beings.

Distinctively iNtuitive (75% strength), extraverted creativity with implied good will.

Moderately feeling (25% strength), a natural inclination toward absent- mindedness and other-worldliness, balanced by strong people awareness.

Moderately perceiving (33% strength), extraverted thinking.

My reaction: Yeah I guess that's a pretty good call.
I've taken the MBTI several times over the years & always get the same label slapped onto me. No escaping it I guess.

I seriously used to think that there was something wrong with me before I ever heard of Myers-Briggs or knew what introverted meant. Once I took the test and read the definition, things made so much sense. The whole "recharge your batteries" thing was exactly what I had been feeling for years. It's not an exact test, like any test can be, but it's a pretty good indicator and can help you to understand yourself.

INFP

When I first took the test, I was floored. I couldn't be any other type, I'm shy, idealistic, and can't turn my brain off. I usually seem brooding to others, but I am usually just thinking of a compromise.

INFP, not that I really believe that a few dozen questions could really show your true personality. I wouldn't dismiss the results of these tests in their entirity but there's a certain generality to the personality type descriptions.

It's a huge field, not just MBTI. You could even classify thigns like astrology as early attempts to categorize personalities. Rather you call someone an Aries, an INTP, an A-type, a 9 with 4, or any other name you're doing the same thing: generalizing certain personality traits to form categories. In my experience some are more accurate than others, and each is useful in different settings. Combined with intelligence research and psychological development theories I think it's pretty much the trifecta of human understanding.
