Personal Web Server

I want to set up a Web Site on my home computer using some kind of Personal Web Server. I have a DSL 1mb connection so I should have enough bandwidth for a couple people at a time. I just want to make a site for all my relatives (who are scattered all over the world) to check in on. Nothin to fancy just some pics and maybe some streaming audio. Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to go?

If you've got windows, why not use MS personal web server?

It's included with Win95 OSR2, Windows 98, ME, Windows 2k, and is a free download for Win 95 and NT4 [Don't be confused by the fact that it is part of the Windows NT Option pack, it does fully support Win 95, 98 and NT.]

It's stable and flexible although it can be a bit of a resource hog.

I've been using Xitami (HTTP/FTP) for awhile now and must say for a totally free server I've been impressed. It's a piece of cake to set up and it's very fast (there's even a console version for Windows 98 so it'll run in a 32-bit DOS box - faster and more stable that way).

Administration is through a browser which comes in handy when you want to add an FTP user from work ;-)
