Knife fights are already pretty gruesome enough, but do you realize how much more gruesome a tomahawk fight would be? There is a reason why we use guns for self defense, they are fast, powerful and you don't have to whack off chunks of your enemy's flesh with every blow in order to win.

Wow, knifetests.com. I started feeling bad for the blades. "Didn't break, lets try this test again..."

As gruesome as it is to think about, I don't think that would make an especially good close fighting weapon, primarily because of the blade shape.

IF
- You don't scare them off because you're ape-shit insane enough to bring a tomahawk to a fight, AND
- The first hit doesn't end the fight in one way or another.

Then you could have a problem. I can see lots of scenarios where the blade gets stuck or caught on something, and then you're unarmed and in a world of hurt. Because if he's not afraid of your ape-shit-insane ass, and not deterred by you swinging that thing/hitting him, then you're probably a dead man.

Ha ha ha, thanks for the input. Hmm...interesting thoughts.
Edit: My only current self defense mechanism is noxious farts and a baseball bat. So, I figured maybe a Tomahawk could be suitable.

very, very true lol

oh, and http://www.americankami.com/axe.html those are fucking badass looking, although I have no idea how useful they would be at defending yourself
