Personal Preferences for Keyboards?

however, going back to topic... What do you personally like to type on, and what do you personally like to game on? I for one am comfortable typing with my slim laptop keyboard, where as for gaming(I haven't really gamed for years), I would prefer my old beige compaq presario keyboard(ps2), that thing is so old, I don't even know if I can find it any more.

Edit: I stopped by microcenter the other day and got to see one of those gaming keyboards... eck, I don't know if I could deal with that, haha, no offense, just not used to it I guess. After the rig is built I might consider getting into HL2 or that new counterstrike(source is it?)
 
Model M for me. I can tolerate my Thinkpad's keyboard, but at the end of the day I can't live without that wonderful springy clickyness.
 
haha, I used to love that "springy clickyness", several years ago(maybe 8 years?) I used a mitsumi keyboard in a database class, it had that and I loved it. I couldn't find that keyboard online so I have no idea, in fact I don't even know if mitsumi keyboards exist anymore. As for the model M, I've done a search for that as well, do they make "newer" models of it? Everything I've seen were pictures of old-beat-up-discolored-beige model M's that were Ps2 or earlier.
 
Nope, they haven't been made for about ten years now (unless you count the Unicomps, which you certainly can), and the classic models since about '92 or '93. They're all beige unless you want to repaint them, they're all AT or PS/2, they're big and heavy for keyboards (a lot of steel in there), they don't have Windows keys, they're loud as hell, and they're guaranteed to be old. On the other hand, they're built like tanks, and they offer the most tactile feedback of any PC keyboard (up there with certain typewriters).

Check the links from Wikipedia. You can buy new old stock Model Ms (never opened, but original IBMs), or new models.
 
for keyboard i just buy the $6 BTC regular ps/2 keyboard at frys. nothing fancy.

for the mouse i prefer the trackman ball type mice from logitech, the one where you thumb rolls the ball around. also has a scroll wheel.
 
MS Internet keyboard pro -> volume and play/stop keys which i can use for winamp while i'm in a fullscreen game, and a built in 2port usb hub. also sports a y cable at the end for both usb and ps2 plugs. unforunately, they don't make them anymore.. do any of the new wired MS boards still have a usb hub? i like to have the mouse plug into the keyboard.

for mouse i use MS explorer 3.0 and 4.0

woah that is my keyboard.. I've had it since i bought my first computer(duron 650). It is durable.. i've smashed it with my fists, it wears very well and best of all, it is the nicest typing experience ive ever had with a keyboard. Everyone will say that about their keyboard that they are used to but every single person that has typed on my keyboard has commented on how nicely it types.

I'll be really sad if i ever break it and cant find a replacement
 
I prefer the standard 104 key model, I just picked up a Lenovo/IBM Preferred Pro Full Size for $19.99 + free shipping. It weighs around 3lbs and is up to par with the older IBM 104 key boards made a few years ago. I didn't want or need extra buttons or user programmable short cut keys.

I just wasn't too happy with the quality of the majority of keyboards on the market today, especially key response and noise.
 
i'm happy with any standard layout keyboard. i currently use a cheapo black/silver keyboard that i think looks and works great.

my mouse on the other hand, is a different story. i use a Razer Diamondback Plasma as those DPI are very important to me for gaming.
