I think this highlights one of our major disconnects. The standards of this board dictate that you do not insult other members. You need to align your standards of communication with the standards of the board.

The fact that you do not believe these are fairly applied is a legitimate issue and you are welcome to express that. But whether you are correct on that point or not, you will still be expected to tone back the insulting or aggressive posts. Until you internalize that issue, you will continue to have problems.

No....your standards (based on what I've read in this thread) are that you do not insult other memebers, unless they dont' care. The problem is you can't exactly tell who would care.

If you aren't going to allow it at all, then it shouldn't be allowed at all, regardless of if the person who was "insulted" cares or not.

That's the thing...it's a "variable" rule which is never the same, which doesn't exactly make it easy to adhere to.

There is a perception issue that may be valid.

With respect to your situation, you have developed a reputation and by your own admission you will push as long as you FEEL you are being pushed at.

What you feel and others feel is subjective.
How you act upon those feelings is not subjective and that is what gets you in trouble.

You want to push the envelope to see what is tolerated.

You have demonstrated the ability to be civil and a valuable member.

Then other times the Mr Hyde personality becomes exposed and you end up in some conflict.

Rather than force a confrontation at all times, it can be wise to just step back and think what you want of the other person without publicizing it.

It is a wise man that knows when to pick his battles.

Also, it is better to be thought of as a fool than to prove it.

You are correct. You are unable to view the first two threads linked because they are located in an area where members do not have permission to access.

I don't try to push the envelope to see what is tolerated, really....though I would admit in the past I've done that. Though I DO respond in kind to what people do say to me, and often quite quickly. If someone makes a jab at me and I jab back, I don't think there should be any problem. I try not to be directly insulting, buy my humor is very sarcastic in nature so that can probably come across wrong to some people.

I was not holding her past against her. She was either a mod at that time, or someone forgot to remove her title that showed her as such. But either way IT DID SAY moderator on her account.

I could care less if she is or was or may be a mod - that's nothing to hold against anyone. Please refrain from making incorrect assumptions. Thanks.

After researching she did resign in Feb and that thread occurred in March not that it matters. I do know that she had just resigned a couple of weeks prior to that thread and she didn't broadcast it.

Edit: She resigned on Feb 11 but because of the new restrictions we were not able as Mods to change her title so in that thread she was listed as a Mod. She requested her title be changed back in Feb but the Powers that Be procrastinated maybe hoping that she'd change her mind.So Odin can say that there was preferential treatment but in reality there wasn't.

That's my recollection too.

I suppose she had already expressed a desire to resign based what Red says.

No way to confirm now whether she had the Mod moniker or not then, looks to me like such changes are retroactive (I.e., whatever moniker she has now will reflected on all her old posts).

I have already said I would have said the same thing regardless of who posted that thread. The poster was being a braggart, plain and simple. I called the poster out on it. I don't care if she was a mod or your wife or whatever. The response received was based only on the post she made and nothing more. Besides, she did not ask me to stop nor did she express concern to me in any way. She seemed content to go back and forth a bit. I was only warned when someone else stepped in. If there was concern on her part and she was genuinely upset, why not send me a PM and ask me to stop? I certainly would have obliged.

I don't see mods as having big targets on them. You're making yourself and other mods out to be the target of things simply because of the mod title, when in fact it's becuase of themselves and what they post.

But oh the perils of being a mod! It is such hard and stressful work!

Only if you make it that way. You can stop acting like you've been slighted or like your wife was specifically targeted by me simple because she was a "mod". Whatever.

It has nothing to do with insulting you, what I say is true, it's been confirmed by the owners of that other site. They actually give you less leeway than we do and because of their close knit community you know that you can't get away with the bullshit you pull here because they don't have to answer to 100,000 members and they aren't concerned about any perception that others may have, which is kind of refreshing, I wish sometimes it was that way here.

BTW none of the comments regarding your bans or warnings have my signature as I have not let my personal feelings about you influence the way I moderate.
