Personal Attacks allowed?

Moderators,
I joined this site since it was one of the largest and most active hardware forums on the web. I tried posting constructive information but was received with ridicule by a few members. I tried to brush it off and encourage them to move on, but the discussion quickly deteriorated to vicious and personal attacks directed towards me.
Here is the thread in question:
http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=1408071&forumid=1

Is this type of behavior acceptable on this forum? Specifically the following:
Originally posted by: MercenaryForHireConsidering you've got no sense of humour and a skin about as thin as the broken prophylactic that caused your birth, I don't forsee you gaining any to lose.

and

I'm just curious as to whether or not this is considered acceptable. Yes, I called him a moron first, but being a new member on a large forum is probably a lot like the first day in prison. You need to stand up for yourself or you'll get railroaded every time. When he resorted to death wishes, then I drew the line and refused to continue.
Anyway, I will not retaliate and await a response.

All that I can say is that you need to purchase a flame suit with a fire resistance rating of at least 4 hours.

It seems as though personal flames are encouraged on these message boards. They probably figure that it draws more attention to AT. Sorta like the tabloids.

Anyhow, have a , and learn to feed :cookie::cookie::cookie: to the trolls that flame you.

Thanks for letting me know. I may just have a beer, too. But I don't believe I'll be posting much. I'm not going to walk around in a dorky flame suit with a 4hr FR rating, LOL. There are a thousand other forums that actually give a crap about their members. This is not yet to say that anandtech does not care - I will see if they respond with any corrective action on my thread. If they don't, then this really isn't the place I want to be.
Thanks man.

So you're saying that you don't see a difference between calling someone a "moron" and telling them to die in a fire? Whatever. Screw this. I'm out of here. Some people are just sick.

SammyXP.... we all have fun at times in the forums. M4H is known for being a bit blunt. I dont think anyone meant anything personal by it. I mean these are forums you are going to be flamed you are going to debate, just bounce back andlaugh afterwards.

Ha! Did you get yours at Waldenbooks? They had a voodoo kit for sale in the clearance bin. It did not specifically say it was a M4H voodoo doll. Maybe they can be customized?

I'm certain Bubba misses you too. Since you won't be posting here anymore that will leave you more time to correspond with him so cheer up!

That was good flaming on his part. I thought this forum had a limit ratio of dumbass newbies to good newbies?

Yeah, I'm dissapointed he didn't either (1) laugh it off or (2) return fire.

He even failed in the prison analogy. You've gotta keep fighting, even if you're getting your ass beat. Take your whoopin' once, then you're done. But if you just whine like a little bitch, you're gonna be one.

uNf!
