Persistant New Hardware Found Message

Oifish

Senior member
This just started randomly a couple of days ago, but when I turn the comp on or restart, windows seems to think I have a new printer attached. Nothing is wrong with my current printer, so I have no clue what this is finding. Any ideas on how to get this annoyance to stop? Thanks.

Uninstall the printer driver. Reboot and when it finds the printer again reinstall the driver.

Also try booting in safe mode. When you get those messages, you can sometimes end up with "ghosts" in your hardware registry. Just delete any extra devices you see and let windows 'reinstall' them after you reboot.

When in safe mode it wouldn't allow me to uninstall it because "This device may be needed to boot". But I disabled it, restarted windows normally, then I was able to uninstall it. Thanks for the tips.
