Yes, that video is actually happening. What, did you think it was just a computer simulation? However, these animated gif things - they repeat themselves over and over. Long after the actual machine has slowed to a stop, the animated gif will play on.

I thought people in these forums were good with technology. Heck, my grandma even knows what an animated gif is.

Newton's 1st law allows for perpetual motion. As long as a body has velocity and nothing imparts a force on it, it will perpetually stay in motion. In practice though, there's always something to provide a force, either friction or gravity.
