Permissions in Linux and K3b

So I'm trying to burn an ISO to a CD with K3b (it's the Xubuntu 6.10 ISO) while running Kubuntu 6.06. It seems, however, that cdrecord doesn't have permission to "open the device." So it won't burn. Now, I've tried moving the ISO to my Windows PC over a thumbdrive to burn, but that ended up in a corrupted file.

How, then, do I get K3b to burn it?

I'm not 100% sure how Ubuntu handles it, but try adding yourself to the cdrom group. After that logout and back in and try it again.

Well, I just tried transfering it over a thumbdrive again, and the burn worked this time. But I don't know that I'll be using xubuntu.
