Permanently delete email from Blackberry?

Basically we have a size limit on our mailboxes at work and I am constantly in a warning state and often exceed the limits which means it prevents you from sending email. Problem is when that happens and I'm not in the office I have to VPN in and clear out my deleted items or shift-delete some stuff. If I delete something from the bb it just goes into my deleted items which isn't synced to the BB so I can't delete anything from there.

I already asked the Exchange guys here and they didn't know, is there a way to do the equiv of a shift-delete on a blackberry so I can free up space in my mailbox from the device?

No. Since the emails are stored on the server using your blackberry will not reflect on the server side, Only on the device. At least thats my understanding. I will be getting my first blackberry at the end of this month and I'll let you know how it works out once I get the chance to play around and see.

If im wrong I apologize but thats my thought.

I lied, that only works from Outlook to Device, not vice-versa. It's called 'Hard Delete Reconciliation'. Setting this option to true syncs shift-deletes from Outlook to your device.

- Go to the Messages app
- hit the BB key and select 'Options'
- choose 'Mail Reconciliation'
- set 'delete on' to 'mailbox & handheld'
- set 'on conflict' to 'handheld wins'
- ...
- Profit.

Don't forget to Purge your deleted items if you don't want them. Deleting them from the mailbox (via your handheld or whatever) will only move them to your Trash bin and that still counts against your mail quota.

I thought about doing this but my deleted items isn't synced to the bb and I don't think I have a choice about that.

You have nothing to lose and there are ways around BES policies...
