Ever since Govee started their marketing campaign around their RGBIC lights that you put up and leave up, but never have them in stock, I've been interested in possibly decorating my house with something like that. Has anyone here done any permanent installations, or semi-permanent? I wouldn't mind a single install if it meant some nice flexibility for multiple themed holidays or events. I've got a single outlet that's high enough to plug stuff into near my soffits so I could probably run whatever I wanted to underneath and leave it up as long as it is supposed to remain outside in the rain, snow, and ice.

I've been seeing some RGB changeable light pods meant for trucks and off road vehicles which should make them fairly durable. They are clear when off, but can be set for any color. Some have inputs to 'dance' with music (which would be annoying). They're 12VDC so you'd need a power supply. Mounting under eaves should be simple.

IIRC, there's a pretty good thread on this from last year in OT:

Years ago, I saw an idea someone built. A series of low profile boxes someone built and installed under the overhang of their house roof. Low profile so it doesn't look completely "Okie" the rest of the year. With a hinged lid, that when opened, hangs down. You can either attach the lights to the cover (like if you had bigger bulbs, like the old C7 or C9 bulbs), or just inside the box, for "icicle" lighting. When the season's over, you tuck the lights back up into the boxes, and close the lids, effectively hiding them until the next season.

I have a photo of what I'm talking about somewhere, but can't find it, and didn't see anything on Google images, with how I was trying to describe it. Hopefully, my description here is enough to help you visualize it.
