I don't know how well that would work... The computer would continue to build while you weren't playing. If you don't play for like a month, you'll open up the game and get your ass handed to you instantly, or just find your civilization in a pile of ruins.

now who's trolling?

What are you talking about? A persistent world would mean that world kept going, even if you aren't playing. The only way for that to happen in an RTS is for the computers to keep building while you're not playing. What else in an RTS game could keep going while you aren't playing?

BTW, it'd do a lot for your image on these forums if you could actually come up with an intelligent retort instead of just pulling out the old kindergarten tricks every time someone calls your posting into question.

Why are you focusing on single part of what I said?

No one ever comes up with an intelligent comment to me, so why should I make an intelligent retort? Besides, it would be wasted on you anyway. You'd still say the same old boring bullshit.

I guess my question is, if you want a persistant world that's not an RPG, then what exactly do you want to be doing? Harvest Moon Online so you can grow crops in real time?

(no one steal that, that's my million dollar idea)

I don't know if you guys are carrying over a fight from another thread or what, but honestly, what he's saying makes complete sense.

If other people are playing then no, it wouldn't get out of hand. I dunno, maybe there's a limit to what you or the cpu can build? Doesn't have to be a typical rts, could be something like company of heroes.

I'm just trying to find another game to play.

I remember playing some game back in the day of BBS that would sort of be a persistant strategy game. It was sort of turn based, and you logged in, saw what ppl did to you, reacted, grew your army, etc etc, so many moves a day, but even it would eventually restart once someone won. I used to pwn that.

I still play a small browser game called Bushtarion where you build a theoretical farm and develop units to fight other farmers. Its really crazy and has a hardcore alliance system. Its the kind of game someone calls you up at 3 am because they're being attacked by another farmer so you can send your robots to go protect them.

The research options are awesome as well you can become militaristic, robotics, geo-physics among other ridiculous things.

You really expect some "intelligent" and helpful comments when you talk to people like this? Every thread I've seen you post in you've either already pissed someone off or are in the process of doing so. Quit your bitching already...go play some BC2...that'll simmer you down. LOL
