Peripherals for Warcraft III...

Hork

My brother is stuck in the dark ages and after several years since its release, still *only* plays Warcraft III.

He got a brand new computer with an i7 and an awesome graphics card. He's using generic wired keyboard and mouse. His setup would really benefit from a wireless mouse and keyboard.

I'm way behind on the latest gaming peripheral technology, and I'm not sure if my brother would even use some of the newest gaming mouse features.

I'm trying to decide if I should get him a wireless mouse like the Logitech G7 (and leave the keyboard wired), or try to get him a wireless desktop combo that would be adequate for playing Warcraft III (even if it isn't a fully featured gaming combo).

I'm looking at paying less than $100 for a mouse or less than $125 for a combo.

Any suggestions?

I've got a G7 wireless mouse, and a G9 wired mouse. I like the G7 much better.

I'm not a fan of wireless keyboards though, unless your desk setup really needs it. A wired keyboard gives you many more options, like backlighting, USB ports, and displays (e.g. Logitech G15).

You might also consider a gaming pad, like the Belkin N52. They take some getting used to, but I can't live without it now.

If he plays regular Warcraft 3, then he doesn't really need a new keyboard. Well if he plays any of the custom games he doesn't need new peripherals. There is software that allow you to play some custom games better.

its not a good assumption he would benefit from a wireless mouse. being used to wired he might get annoyed by the lag. wireless kb are a bit pointless as well.

perhaps get him a nicer headset😛

Interesting.. I have an opposite opinion. I could deal with a wireless keyboard but no wireless mouse I've tried was without an issue. Especially for gaming. I agree that LED backlit keyboards are very cool and can even be practical, but they are expensive. (I use generic keyboards $3 wired, $7 wireless)

When it comes to mice, MX518 or G5 all the way. I've tried to get used to wireless mouse many times, but they just aren't as responsive and are sometimes downright annoying.

I was an avid WC3 player, btw.

I also liked Razer Copperhead but it took some time getting used to it because the mouse is small and very light.
