Ditto.

Also, posters need to lay off the OP. He explained his point and it's not a PC thing.

I don't see how it's a mistake at all. If you want to read too much into something, I'm sure you could come up with something like this in just about anything. People are just seeing what they want to see, not what is meant to be seen.
Why would I want to see that? If you have seen my previous posts, you'll know I'm definitely not an Xbox basher. In fact I really like the innards of the new Xbox 360.

The whole point of a marketing campaign such as the one for the Xbox 360 is to appeal to as wide an audience as possible, without p!ssing people off. As rh71 says, this one falls into the "WTF were they thinking?" category. It's a marketing blunder IMO, even if it's probably not going to be a big one.

It isn't about being politically correct, it's about advertising.
Would it make any sense to run an ad whose picture was a pile of dead, rotting babies with an xbox stuck in the pile?
How bout if the xbox was half stuffed in your Mom's ass?
If only one out of ten people make the connection, and one out of those ten are offended, then the ad has cost the company money.
I'm not at all offended and don't believe there was any intent.
I am amazed, just as the OP suggested, that something that obvious got through to print.
It's just fvckin stupid.

the first image definitely looks like a swastika.

the other images presented really don't.

Hahaha. I like how you post a simple observance of an advertising blunder and people take it upon themselves to give you a history lesson on the history of the swastika, and tell you why you're too sensitive and over-imaginative for even daring to suggest that it resembles a swastika.

It's rather scary, the amount of people who are incapable of understanding the point of a post, and instead get angry and offensive.

More subliminal messages for the general public and xbox fanboys. Cartman: "SEIG HEIL!"

This is a little odd. It's hard to see why they couldn't have photographed three controllers, or had the "swastika" backwards. I'm sure this wasn't done on purpose, but I imagine the marketing folks who created these materials were being paid handsomely not to make this kind of error. Dumb dumb dumb . . .

Looks like a pinwheel to me. Unless you think all the little kids running around outside on windy days are nazis, I don't see the problem.

The swastika was a perfectly normal symbol used by a lot of cultures before the damn Nazi's screwed it up.
