For me

Performance
Noise
Heat
Power consumption

At whatever price range I can afford

Lets just say all other things are equal.

Performance first if the second card is noticably different/slower.

Cooler size if the performance is similar (generally less noise regardless of power / heat production)

Fan type/size (so noise for sure at that point)

Though given I perfer dual sloted GPU's with rear vents for the hot air, that might be worth saying Heat first. But then when looking at GPU's, the performance is first.

With performance and card design(noise/heat ducting) taken into account, the last two (total heat & power) do not matter to me.

What if two cards are of equal performance, but one has a lower power draw while the other has lower operating noise? Which would you rather game with?

Since you specified "game" I would go with the one that is lower in noise. Within limits obviously, I'm assuming we aren't talking silly extremes like comparing a 100W 95dB card to a 1000W 5dB card.

In my case I do make use of CUDA though, so I find it beneficial to draw the line prior to my gaming preference. Personally I game with whatever card gives me CUDA and lower noise at the expense of higher power.

I weight it about like this:
50% price/performance/watt consumption (see http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2150762)
40% heat generation
10% noise

My case is insulated so I don't hear much. Heat is much more important to me.

Wow, really? You originate your needs around CUDA?
