performance sucks with the latest detonator

i use to get much higher scores with CS, and yet CS is the only game i play, i use to get 70 to 99 all the time with my geforce2 mx 400 and my duron 800 with ABIT KT7 (kt 133) chipset, use to use winME, i just want a detonator thats best for the HL engine coz as i said, its the only game i play.

I dont know what kind of card you have but my leadtek geforce 2 pro gets its best perfomance with leadteks 12.60 det. Its strange though because I can use nvidia reference 12.60 and perfomance will go down. I guess that leadtek has tweaked these dets for their own cards. I guess what Im getting to is to try your manufactures newest drivers for your card.

The 21.85 worked great for me as well, but the 22.80's gave me a slight increase in 3DMark and in FPS

Wait, so what game do you play again?

Just kidding. If you only run 1 game, then go with the driver that gives you the best performance. No worries about compatibility issues, you shouldn't have to update your driver until you want to try a new game or a new driver is released.

Maybe before you updated VSYNC was off and now it's turned on, as that is the default state that drivers are set to.

i always had vsync on, even wiht my old mx 400 machine, its a driver problem, btw i have a leadtek as well, i think i'll try leadteks driver.
