Performance problem on new A64 3500+, MSI K8N Neo4, 6600GT

So I just upgraded my machine from a 3 year old AMD 1800+ XP machine ... (yes its been a while 🙂).

This is my new spec

Athlon 3500+ winchester
MSI K8N Neo4
Leadtek 6600 GT
1 GB Memory (mixed 512MB ddr 2700 & 512MB ddr 3200)

I have just fresh installed the machine last night, and run 3dmark 05 on it. I only got 3311 as my score !! After researching this score, it seems a little low with a comparable system.

During the 3dmark 05 bench, the picture was so bad that I only got 1-5 fps... pretty bad for my new system with 6600GT.

I have not upgraded my memory from my old 1800+. I thought it would not be a problem.

So, whats your take? Is this a memory issue? What memory should I purchase?

Thanks folks !

I mixed memory once and it crashed my system.... I'd try using just one 512 stick probably the 3200 and report your results to us
