Performance problem in UT (radeon 32 ddr)

When I run a timedemo in UT I find that I'm only averaging about 55 fps. I just got my new radeon card so I figure it should be better than that. I'm running it at 800x600, 32 bit color, textures and skin on high detail, anti-aliasing is off. I also remembered to change the video driver within UT to the new radeon driver. Anybody have any other suggestions? (It's probably something totally obvious that I forgot about--I hope 🙂 )

This is what I was doing:
Start a practice session--I was using 4 bots. While in the game press Tab, then type "timedemo 1". That starts the timedemo, play the game for a while and get in some good battles then type "timedemo 0", that stops the timedemo and it gives you a summary of your framerates. Let me know what you get.

Ya, you're right...I had a look at this review and it gets 62.4 on average in that test so I guess mine is in the right range. My card isn't an all-in-wonder but they should perform pretty much the same I think. Thanks.

You really cant run a timedemo by playing a game. You can let the flyby run with the timedemo 1 and it will give you a score. You can also get a benchmark called Thunder. Many of the review sites are using it. UTbench is another one, but I dont have a link for it.

on mine. i have it at 1024x786 32 bit high everything, i get around 60 avg. but this way of measuring is not repeatable enough to compare with each other. I tried it on Overlord with about 8ppl on each side. I think your number seems alright.
