Performance Hit from Tv Tuner/2 screens?

I Got a Hauppage HVR-1800 for christmas, and am planning on attaching a 17" to my current gtx 280 and 24", with the 17" for tv while I do other stuff (surf net, game). I am wondering what kind of performance hit I'd get while playing games and watching tv at the same time. I play a lot of games from 5 year old wc3 to crysis warhead at high settings. I have never had a tv tuner before.

I am still wondering if I will take a performance hit for using a 2nd monitor with tv-tuner during gaming, and if so, how big of a performance hit. ANY input would be good input.

I would say a big performance hit. Even if the PVR card is doing the encoding/decoding, there's a lot of work being done by the CPU, RAM, et cetera. Get a second PC, maybe?

Can't you just test it?

I've been playing EQ2 lately on my main 1920x1080 while watching streamed (sometimes HD) content on my 1680x1050 and haven't noticed any significant performance hit.

can't test it til I get some cable running down here, wont be til next weekend. Unfortunately my 2nd pc doesnt have a pci-e slot, and this card requires one ^.^
