Performance difference between PD805 and 945?

Hey all. I'm going to be building a C2D system a little after Christmas, but until then I decided to upgrade my Pendium D 805 to a 945. It should be coming in the mail today :).. Right now i'm running my 805 at 3.46ghz with 2gb DDR2 667 and an X1800XT (665/765), but my performance isn't where I want it to be with gaming, at least until I get the C2D system running. I can't get much higher than 3.46 on the 805 before I start running into some throttling issues, specifically when i'm running F.E.A.R and Oblivion. I get small glitches and studdering at times, and after upgrading from 1gb of ram I thought that would take care of it. So my question is, how much of a performance difference will I be looking at with the 945 compared with the 805? I'm hoping I can push it up to 4ghz (on a freezer 7 pro) which I assume would take out most of the studder in F.E.A.R, and up the frame rate noticably correct? Also, how high do you think I could push the 945 on air? I've heard of people reaching 4.2ghz on air but that seems far fetched to me. Thanx guys.

depending on what res you are running at and what image options are on, it probably isnt your cpu. the 945 upgrade, imho, was stupid

Not necessarily stupid... I picked it up for $148 and if you asked me, that's a pretty cheap upgrade from the POS 805 i'm running. If I can get up to FX-60 speeds with a $150 chip to hold me over for my C2D, then I'm happy. 3.46ghz isn't the best performer, but if I can get a 945 past 4ghz then I think it's justifiable for the price, at least for now. 4.5-4.9ghz on air?!? As for the res and img quality, i'm running at 1680x1050 with max details and 4x/8x (no soft shodows) for fear and 1280x1024 medium with oblivion. Oblivion actually runs perfect at those settings, i'm getting most of the studdering in fear. Also, will I be able to use my freezer 7 pro on the C2D, or should I look into another HSF? I would have thought to get over 3.46ghz with the 805 with the freezer 7 pro, but I guess it's not the best HSF for this chip... Any suggestions on a better HSF.
