What is the performance advantage of the i7-620m over the i3-330m for normal day to day use web browsing, word documents?

General usage, probably won't be much difference. The i7-620m does have a turbo mode so if you tend to run a lot of single threaded apps, you may see some benefits there.

So would it be worth it to upgrade it now or just leave it as is for that amount of money?

If all you're duty is light duty apps, stick with what you have. In fact, if you're looking to increase responsiveness, throw in a SSD. I put a 60GB Vertex 2 in my laptop that's two years old and the thing feels incredibly snappy even though it's still rocking a C2D T5850.

Ok sounds good to me. Thank you. The fact that it has hyper threading will help with those multi single threaded apps correct even if it doesn't have turbo?

Because I don't think that there will be a whole lot of word or excel apps open at once.

Hyperthreading has its benefits but it truly doesn't replace actual CPU cores. But yes, HT helps with apps that support multi-threaded code.
