It seems my computer isn't acting quite up to the hardware... Any help would be appreciated. Games run GREAT... But somtimes my computer just randomly shutsdown and in game FMV's the frames somtimes skip and the ingame gameplay somtimes acts riggid and slow.

I'm running:

512 PC2700 (Yeah I know I'm upgrading to 1gig PC3200 soon)
3000+ A64
Chaintech Nforce3-250
Windows XP Home Edition
XFX 6600GT 128 8x AGP
300W Antec (Kinda small I know but so far it has proven to be fine.)


So can anyone tell me why this is happening I'll list somes game:

Unreal II
Rainbow 6 Raven Sheild
IL2 Sturmovik
Call Of Duty

I have the Motherboard and Graphics drivers installed so that can't be it.
 
Everyone here is going to say power supply so you might as well check the readings on it. Does your power supply have the extra connectors for your mobo? I forget what's it's called, but newer mobos need a separate one also. Also check the other commons things like temperatures and make sure you're running stable timings on all components (no overclocking) since stability is your #1 priority...plus your p/s is on the low side.
 
Well I'm going to return my PSU for a 350W and I don't OC. And yes if you mean the extra connecter with 4 prongs then yes. My temps are all good. So I guess I'll get the better PSU and then put a new HDD in and go from there.
 
I would ask for at least a 400w P/S, (quality). That 6600 and the AMD pull ALOT of juice, and any fluctuations will cause "random" crashes.
 
First of all, and I'm surprised no one else has taken the cheap shot, a guy admitting "performance problems" on a public forum? lol.

Ok, that said...try running without your case cover on for awhile (to enhance air flow) and see if you still have the issues. Clean out the dust from your fan blades and heatsink(s). I find that a dental pic is good for the heat sink fins.

You can reseat things like your memory, video card, pci cards, and clean install the cpu fan/cooler with a good thermal paste between the cpu and fan/heatsink.
