I ordered an X800XT from a site that didn't say if it was in stock or not, for 481 bucks. Of course, they emailed me back 2 days later saying that it was backordered. I emailed them back to cancel my order, and shopped around a bit more. I found a Powercolor X800XT (different site, but still doesn't say if it's in stock or not) for 500 bucks with VIVO, but the price keeps going up and up, dunno if I can keep this up. I was also considering the 6800GT for about 100 dollars less. The games I'll be playing the most is HL2 and America's Army, dunno if the extra 15 or so FPS in HL2 is worth 100 bucks (I'm already paying for anything that goes over the budget)? Help!

77 FPS (6800GT) for the "slowest level in the game" run at 1200 x 1600 with Trilinear Filtering and no AA is pretty good for 400 bucks.

Hmm, after reading more into the benchmarks, the 6800GT runs levels a bit better than the X800Pro. However the Pro gets 0.8% higher performance when you turn on 4x AA at 1280 x 1024. The Pro comes in at about 30 - 50 bucks more, so I, well, still don't know what to do.

I looked at BFG's 6800GT OC for 440 bucks, which looked like a great card, but what's the difference between DDR and DDR3?

Bestbuy has the bfg 6800gt's for 400. You might just have to check a couple times before its in stock online. ddr3 is much faster =)

DDR3 was designed to be able to clock higher than DDR. It also uses less power.

You can't go wrong with a BFG6800GT imo.

Order BFG 6800GT from Chumbo.com for $400. No tax for most people and free FedEx second day air.

Chumbo has it bundled with a power supply and Doom3 for 450...which is a good deal but I don't need the bundle.

Bestbuy's is 400, but it's out of stock and has the stock hsf. I like the look of the other dual-fan hsf better and I bet it cools better.

Chumbo also has the GT by itself for $399.99 and in stock. It's the #1 bestseller on their site.

Oh ok haha I'll look again.

Anyway will my Enermax 460w PSU handle the card? nVidia says min system requirement is 300w but I don't believe that...

Ok I found it. But..

1. I think they messed up. "Included in Box: BFG GeForce? 6800 OC? graphics card"

2. What's the difference between that fan and the dual-fan versions?

1. It's the GT. Don't worry.
2. That's the dual-fan version.

Well I just found Newegg has the Powercolor X800XT for 485. It's OEM but it comes with everything in the retail package.

I used to run a 6800 GT on a generic 350w PSU just fine.

I was actually looking at the BFG 6800GT OC bundled with Doom 3 for about 430 bucks at PCavailable.com. I wasn't looking to get Doom 3, but now with an nVidia video card, what the hell eh? I've already gotten Farcry for free with my motherboard/CPU combo, maybe I should start a collection.

A word of caution about Leadtek GTs - some are being sold as underclocked 'lite' versions. They're supposed to have stickers on them to differentiate between regular and lite, but apparently some retailers have been trying to foist them as regular GTs.
