Looking for some input on the perfect monitor my my current setup. Monitor will be used for just about everything from playing games to doing every day word processing and so on. Also will be watching TV on it as well.

My build is as follows:

Gigabyte 1155 Mother Z68P
8 GBs of G Skill Ripjaws
180 GB SSD Corsair
1 TB WD HD
2 x Nvidia GTX 570 in SLI mode
800 watt PSU.
Running Windows 7 Pro x64

Also will have be installing a Hauppauge 2650 for TV and a Motorola Surfboard. Don't know if these are important.

I've been looking at 2 different monitors / TV.

The 1st one is from NewEgg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16889112058

The 2nd is from Walmart http://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-42-C...420VX/15992330

Let me know what I would be the best to get.

For 570 SLI I'd get a 120hz monitor like Asus VG236H 330 AR as it doesn't limit you to 60fps in games. I think a HDTV is not that good for regular desktop use...

TY both. I have been looking at these monitors as well. I am looking for something larger in a display. I currently have an Samsung 23" and to me it just seems small. I am leaning towards something larger.

Use two monitors, get the dell for computer use and the 42" for watch movies and play games. that is what I do.

If you are sticking with your initial choices, get the 32". A 42" is terrible for use as a monitor right in front of your face because the pixels are big.

Getting physically bigger display would only solve half the problem. If you upgrade to a 32" 1080p TV, you're not really increasing the available desktop space or the crispness of the image, you're just making everything bigger.

I'd recommend getting a 27" 2560x1440 monitor. You get a bigger screen and a lot more pixels to play with. Your GTX 570 SLI setup would have no problems pushing that resolution.

As for specific monitors, the new Korean Catleap monitors are super-inexpensive ~$340 and quite popular right now. However, they're only really available on Ebay at this point. If you're looking for something a little better quality and available in an actual store, I recommend the HP ZR2740w for $680.
