EyeColor FX Contacts
only thing that sucks is no perscriptions... so I guess this is only a Hot Deal for those with 20/20 vision

Important Halloween Ordering Information

If you are planning to wear special effect contact lenses as part of your Halloween costume, please take note of the following important information.

EyeColor.com has ample supplies of plano (no power) WildEyes®, WildEyes x-colors®, Crazy Lenses®, EyeColor FX and Rave FX in most designs and colors on hand for immediate shipment. You may order these as late as Monday, October 28, and still be assured of on-time delivery if you select an expedited shipping method - but we recommend ordering sooner.

If you need WildEyes®, WildEyes x-colors® or Crazy Lenses® in prescription powers for vision correction, we recommend ordering them no later than Monday, October 21. Even the manufacturers have difficulty keeping up with demand at this time of year, so on-time delivery of orders placed after that date may not be possible even if expedited shipping is selected.

EyeColor.com is not responsible for shipping or delivery delays that occur after products leave our distribution facility.
To avoid disappointment, please place your order for Halloween contact lenses as far in advance as possible.

Happy Halloween:Q

I would love to have these when i am giving out my glow bracelets (see my sig) to the trick or treaters, so if anyone knows please reply!

It took me about 10 minutes to get them in the first time I tried them. I still don't wear them every day, just when I don't want to wear my glasses, which are far more convenient (can take them off to rub your eyes).

Try sticking your finger in your eye first, if that bothers you too much don't buy them. Also it might feel like something is caught in your eye for the first 30 seconds its in there and you can't close your eyelid. Sometimes when putting in my contacts if they're dirty or somethings on them it makes me feel like scratching my eyeballs out. But usaully once they're in there you won't feel them at all.

It doesn't hurt a lot if you do it properly...except if you haven't done it before you're not going to do it properly...find someone who has some clue what they're doing to show you and you should try it out a couple times before halloween...

oh, and I wouldn't fall asleep in these unless you want to be blind.

Personally I would love to get a prescription one that's extra large and blacks out the white too...but those would hurt like a @#$@!@#$@ =P

They're the kind you've seen on the x-files(alien black goo filling people's eyes), buffy the vampire slayer(evil willow), and I think some movies somewhere. Would be very neat to scare the crap out of people =) since I wanted to wear a hazmat suit with a gask mask on hehe...run into some place and take your mask off and pretend to die. =)

I don't get it. Why are they so <U>outrageously</U> expensive???? Even if they sold it at an highway-robbery-and-took-my-pants-too price of $20 a pair, I would still be able to consider them but at $60, that's a rip.

Does anyone else sell them?

I agree w/ you Dude. The price for these contacts is still a little too steep for me. However, they've dropped 50% within the last couple of years. And for those out there who need some w/ a prescription, this is a hot deal. I've seen them go for as much as $150/pair.

Keep in mind that if you don't properly use contacts, you can get an infection and, worst case, possibly go blind. Most of the cases where people have serious problems with contacts are from mail order/internet places where they buy them with out a prescription and get no training in proper care. You also no way of getting the correct size to order without going to a doctor.

I wear contacts as I'm blind as a bat without them and I'd think it would be tough to get them in if you had never done it before. It took a while for me to learn.

Just keep in mind that it's a chunk of cash and a significant amount of risk for a little cosmetic gain, up to you if it's worth it.

(I think the reason the price is so high is because the legit way of getting these is to go to an eye doctor have an exam and then getting a prescription. Thats $$$ but a much safer way to go about this.)

I've got me a pair of Red Wolf on the way. I've been wearing contacts for years so it shouldn't be a problem for me.

You forgot to add in there 10 minutes PER EYE! Those suckers are a pain in the azz the first few times you "try" to put them in. My eyes still get blurry after having them in for about 10 hours straight without blinking at the damn computer screen.

They do sell them at the eye doctor...at least they do in Wal-Mart.

Youse guys are NUTS!!!

They need to be fit, you need an eye doc to check your eye to make sure they will be alright. What happens when you can't get the suckers out? Ever scratch your cornea with your fingernail? OUCH!

In Florida, it is illegal, btw. Even with no prescription. I don't know about any other states.

Dangerous stuff for one night of silliness.

If you have it in front of you, work on it and read directions later, if you dont, as with these, read instructions while you wait to get, which say:

Prescription Required:
Even if you have perfect vision, you must have a fitting and receive a prescription ("plano" for perfect vision) before EyeColor.com will sell you replacement lenses. You may purchase only the lens brand and type specified in your prescription, although you may select from any of the available colors or designs. At the time you place your order, EyeColor.com will ask you to supply the name of your eye care professional and/or optical shop, including a telephone number with area code. If possible, please also fax a copy of your prescription to us at 877-977-2656 so we may keep it on file. Texas and Washington residents: We must have a copy of your prescription before we can ship your contacts.

the lingo is found here

but, if you like the feeling of a finger in your eye, here are some cool nfl logos for your eyeball

FDA warning on decorative contact lenses
Monday, October 21, 2002 Posted: 10:06 PM EDT (0206 GMT)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- U.S. health officials Monday warned Americans not to wear colored contact lenses being sold simply for decoration and without a prescription or a professional fitting, saying the lenses present serious risks of permanent eye injury.

The Food and Drug Administration said non-corrective, decorative contact lenses were being sold directly to consumers at flea markets, convenience stores and beach shops, adding that marketing may increase around Halloween.

"Consumers should understand that decorative contact lenses, like contact lenses intended for correcting vision, present serious risks to eye health if they are distributed without a valid prescription and proper fitting by a qualified eye care professional," FDA Deputy Commissioner Lester Crawford said in a statement.

The FDA said it had received reports of corneal ulcers associated with wearing decorative lenses for longer than recommended. Corneal ulcers can rapidly get worse and lead to infections if untreated. Uncontrolled infections may lead to corneal scarring and vision impairment. In extreme cases, this can cause blindness and eye loss, the FDA said.

The FDA also alerted officials to detain all decorative contact lenses at U.S. ports of entry and said the agency will seize any lenses being marketed in violation of federal law.

Also, I don't see anything on this site regarding torics. I thought that those of us with astigmatism need toric lenses.

Don't know if anyone else noticed, but they do have some different styles available besides what's just on that one page. Here are some more, but they do cost a bit more too:
http://store.yahoo.net/eyecolor/wildeyes.html
There is also these:
http://store.yahoo.net/eyecolor/crazlenplan.html
and these:
http://store.yahoo.net/eyecolor/nflcrazylenses.html

As to why these cost so much more than regular lenses, I'd say it's simply because these are produced and sell in much smaller quantities. Therefore much higher price.
