Sure I had worked about 12 hours in the hot sun and many of those inside a house today, without A/C and sealed in Tyvek and with only small windows to breathe through mind you, framing and such...
Sure I was tired, but tonight constituted the perfect conditions.
The day had been horrible. Hovering around 90, and with the upcoming thunderstorms (which never actually came as far as out town) it got muggy as hell.
I had gotten home at about 8:30pm, and it was starting to sprinkle. The stuffiness in the air was dying down. It was starting to get "acceptable"....
I was tired, my dog (Mona ) was anxious to play or run or whatever, and I still had some energy in me, so I took her for a walk...about 1/4 through the 4.5mile trek, I got an itch to run, and she got it too.
At the quarter mile point, everything stood still for a moment.
The weather was perfect: humid but, curiously, there was just a hint of coolness due to the sporadic rain drops that came and went.
Then I saw it: the straightaway.
I fired up "run Jack rabbit Junk" off of the Ghost in the shell: SAC soundtrack.
The melody in this song kicks in 1:00 flat.
I walked for about 56 seconds.
During the last 4 seconds we bolted.
I swear I have never run so fast, with such a long and perfect stride...ever.
I was running so fast that I felt like I was going to fall if I went any faster.
Hell, even my dog was going all out.
Just imagine a horse at the Kentucky Derby: her stride looked just as proportional to that of a horse at full steam.
These were was perfect conditions.
Cliffs:
12hr workday + coming home + Nike free running shoes + ?run jack rabbit junk? + German shepherd + horrible humidity + just a hint of rain + a straightaway + stress that needed to be dealt with: the perfect conditions for an all out war on your fastest running speed.
