Rare to see corporations with scruples these days.
That's the picture they wanted to paint.

Think of the scandal if this information got out that Pepsi had actually gone through with it. Furthermore they'd be admitting that Coke makes a better product.

They did this to save their own ass, not because it was the right thing to do.
Bingo, you've got it.

This is guaranteed good press as opposed to potential minor market information.

Yep. Well, I'll by into it.

Instead of stocking up on coke this week, I'll buy all coke and one pepsi. 🙂 😉

Aside from the 'morality' discussion, news of another 'new' flavour has me at bleh. Has there ever been one of these that lasted more than a year? I think I still have 5 year old Vanilla Coke lying around in a box somewhere...

Wow, so even when a company does something good, you assume they are still looking out for themselves? What do they have to do for you to say "Oh, that's nice of them."

You act as if I have a grudge... I'm simply stating the reality of what happened. Go grind your axe somewhere else 😉

Or maybe I'm just not as naive as you are.

Again, corporations don't do "nice things" unless it benefits them in the end. They weren't doing a favour to Coke, but instead they're helping themselves by making themselves look good, and Coke bad at the same time.

Kudos to Pepsi but I still prefer Coke 😛

And I prefer Pepsi. :music:Twice as much for a nickel too. Pepsi Cola is the drink for you.

It's still a nickel, isn't it?

The real reason why pepsi tipped off coke and the fbi is because this kind of information is called a trade secret and it is legally protected. Taking or using it is a federal crime and on top of criminal penalties, the accused party can be sued for damages, economic loss, etc.

This is not only a matter of morals, but it's a serious crime and the bigger the company, the more there is to lose by getting involved. Most large companies today train employees how to recognize such information/situation and what is the legal/correct action is. All it takes is one person in the company doing the wrong thing to create a serious situation for which the entire company may be punished.

Vanilla Coke is still sold (and rocks!), so I guess some do last more than a year.

have any of you guys noticed that they all taste different, well maybe not taste, but texture depending on it's served. I prefer Coke out of can. But once in a while, I will crave Pepsi, but only from a bottle. And yes, it must have a nipple on it.

i prefer classicl coke over pepsi any day. but the new lime flavored coke is horrible. cherry coke is alright, but original coke still tastes the best.
