Think of the scandal if this information got out that Pepsi had actually gone through with it. Furthermore they'd be admitting that Coke makes a better product.

They did this to save their own ass, not because it was the right thing to do.
 
Pepsi and Coke basically have a monoply on the large scale bottled beverage market. I doubt either of them wants to really piss off the other. Chances are that they both have mounds of dirt on each other. Having said that, good work by the people at Pepsi on helping catch greedy criminals.
 
That's cool, they would have been idiots to take the info and get caught later though. That being said, I still prefer Pepsi more than Coke
 
Shens. Pepsi must have thought Coke was behind the whole ploy to make them fall into the trap, which was probably the case.

Corporations aren't here to be nice, they're here to make money.

Coke 2 was such a huge success, I am amazed they didn't buy the top secret Coke 3 right away. 😛
 
Self-preservation.

Too much to risk for too little gain, instead they turned it into good PR and an embarrassment for Coke.
 
pepsi did the smart thing there is no way pepsi buying coke's secrets would have remained secret for long....

besides look at all the FREE positive publicity they are getting, that alone is worth a lot more than anything they would have gained from buying coke's secrets
 
it was the only option that pepsi had, there's no way they could take the information...

the lady was caught on tape stealing the information anyways
