They are out there.

It's (almost) all I drink since mid 80's. I'll drink a soda with HFCS once a month or less.
I'll drink 2-3 a week with sugar. Red Rock Ginger ale will sting your gum's and lips it is wonderful. The cola is also very good. Fritz's Creme soda and Orange for a change is nice.

You can find Red Rock in the southeast and Fritz's around St Louis.

So are they just putting sugar into Pepsi and MD or introducing another seperate line with sugar and still keep the regular stuff???

Also can we get a link to the full article please??? It's basically a rule that you have to post a link to the original article.

It's fantastic with sugar. I'm traveling to Mexico in April and am looking forward to the various sodas w/ sugar in them down there.

It has sugar, just not from sugar cane.

I'll have to give this a try, I don't think I've ever had a soda that used real sugar and not HFCS. I prefer good old aspartame, though. I'm also a Coke drinker, not Pepsi. :p

It has a corn based sweetener instead of cane sugar.

Wonder what the cost difference is. Someone tell me, too lazy to click on article.

Red Rock's at Kroger are about ~$ 3.50? a 4 pack I think. Not real sure. Its about the only thing I buy that I don't really check the price. But, I drink less than a 4 pack a week.

Mmmm, Kool-Aid. Lots of sugar, and really cheap. If they contracted with Pepsi-Co and made a powdered Moutain Dew Kool-Aid mix (without caffeine though), I'd buy a year's production from one of their factories.

Anyone see the Diane Sawyer documentary on "Hidden America: Children of the Mountain"

It was about poverty in Appalachia, but a big part of it was about Mountain Dew and how it is drank in excess as a sort of "drug"

side effects: excess urination

main effects: hyperactivity

Taste really depends on what stage of cane sugar they use.
If they use it in the fully refined stage , like what you buy in a bag at the store, it isn't going to taste much different. If they use it in the raw form though it will make a big difference in taste. My dad grew sugar cane in a small area of the garden when I was growing up . We would chew on it, really different flavor than after it has been refined and bagged.

Maybe Dr. Pepper will follow suit. You can get Dublin Dr. Pepper in Texas but it's hard to find outside of the state.

HFCS

I don't know about the validity of the study. My doctor doesn't like HFCS though. Says it needs further study. Of course he is not real keen on cane sugar ;),smoking, or alcohol either.

I just like the taste better.

LOL. Big tobacco....

HFCS isnt broken down by the body properly so you still feel hungry after eating it so you eat more. It rots your teeth and causes diabetes.

I wonder if the ever increasing price of corn, which would in turn increase the cost of HFCS, has any effect on their decision to go back to using sugar?

The last thing i read about it said Pepsi Co. and Coke save about 1 cent per 12oz. by using HFCS in place of Sugar.

I could certainly see the price of corn rising putting a dent in that.

I would gladly pay the extra 1 cent to have sugar based soda. I wish they would offer both kinds at least. Personally I highly prefer sugar based soda's and would be willing to pay a bit more to get them.

Yes! I occasionally buy a case of Mexican Coke (Mexicoke?) at Costco. It's $20 well spent
