Tracking number is in the format VG 000 000 000 US.

When I check the number, I get this message:

Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office.

It was supposedly sent Priority Mail, which should have delivery confirmation.

Priority mail does not come with DC, it's an avaliable addon. That number does not look like a delivery confirmation number which could track whether it's been received or not.

Did they change policy on Priority Mail?

Every time I've gotten it, it included delivery confirmation at no extra charge, including a package I shipped a week ago. Maybe its just for click n ship?

Ah, just found it on their site, yep its free for click n ship but not if you go to a post office.

According to this page, that format does not match any number formats used by USPS for online tracking. I have seen a VG number before, and it might be that the item was sent with "return receipt" which is not trackable online. When the item is delivered there is a slip of paper that gets sent back to the sender to confirm delivery.

It should also be noted that delivery confirmation is NOT package tracking. All it does is confirms delivery of an item. It is protection for the shipper only and offers nothing for the recipient. If you want full tracking and confirmation that an item has actually been shipped, you have to use UPS/FedEx/DHL.

Oh, I know that USPS doesn't offer real tracking.

Hmm, well hopefully it shows up tomorrow then. Just making sure I wasn't getting the run around.

It's registered mail. It's not trackable. It's not delivery confirmation. But it will get to you. Reg. Mail is the most secure mail USPS offers. Slower sometimes, though.

Worked at USPS call center...

I had a guy send me a number similar to that once, saying it was the DC #.
I told him that wasn't it and he said that was the number on the stub.
When it finally arrived, I found out that was the insurance #, he did put DC on it, though, just didn't give me THAT number.
