Vic, what is a single point ground mod?
Wiring up various new grounds under the hood that all "single-point" back to the negative battery terminal.
It generally strengthens the electrical system and smooths out voltage irregularities, plus is more safe than the single ground that most cars come with.
Aren't you gonna recommend something like this?😀😉
Oh God no! Why pay so much when a DIY works just as well and only costs about $10 bucks and takes about 10 minutes?

Eli, ground mods work because today's cars are run by computers that are sensitive to minute changes in voltage. Most people don't claim hp gains though (I don't), just that the car runs smoother and the electrical system seems better. For example, my lights don't briefly dim when I shift into reverse (and the reverse lights come on) anymore.

Bump.

Should I be looking at something like this cap? My amp is only 200w peak so a .5 farad should be sufficient? I thought they were going to be cheaper than $45! 🙂

Vic - have any links/tutorials for the single point ground mod?

Here is one from the guy who is credited with developing the "mod" for the WRX. Text He uses 4ga stereo quality wire with gold plated connectors, which I think is beyond overkill.

Here's a pic of an 04 WRX (not mine) where the owner did the Home Depot DIY sloppy enough that you can see where all the points go. 😀 Text. You would want to leave out the wire connecting the 2 sides of the intake manifold, as it just isn't necessary (this wouldn't apply to most cars anyway).

Nice! Nothing like going all out to do a half-a$$ed job! 😀
