People with no Health Insurance.

What do you do for dentist? How do you get your physical? (I'm guessing you don't?). Eye exams? Etc.

What if you are really sick? Where do you go?

I have health insurance now, but for a year and a half after graduating college, I went without.

if it wasn't an emergency, I didn't go to a doctor. I'm a pretty health guy (no teeth problems, no serious health issues), so it wasn't too bad. the one time I needed an eye exam / new glasses, I went to the same place I've always gone to, but paid cash.

for serious issues, my city has a couple free clinics.

I hope it isn't like movies make them out to be.

the one I went to (this was in Jersey City, NJ) was not that bad. it was crowded and I had to wait forever and a day to see a doctor, but it wasn't the end of the world.

When I first got out of college, i was there. Catastrophic health insurance for young people is cheap, like $50 a month. Pay cash for other stuff like dental and vision. Basic visits for both are relatively inexpensive, usually under $100.

Good luck to anyone in this boat.

most hospitals will setup a payment plan for no insurance patients OR if they qualify they have charity care for eligible people. Medicaid is also an option if u dont have insurance just depends on your situation or who evers situation.I work in a hospital so eh... go over this with ppl all the time.

There used to be lots of options for people (ie freecare), however, since fundings have been cut, those programs are slowly withering away.

Fortunately I have insurance. My wife didn't (before we were married) and she'd use dentist that took cash payments ; Some Dr's will too.

I just got the $50/month catashropic - But I wish I could just go for checkups. Right now I can harldy jog with my knee pain, but no insurance.

Doc-in-a-box is the best option with no health insurance....unless you get injured badly and need hospitalization. If that happens, you're just screwed. I would look into cheap health insurance or try to get something at least to cover you in the event of an emergency.
