People with Indian Parents

My parents want to have a 4th of July bbq, but there's only one hitch: most of their guests are vegetarians. To me, I guess it's a decent oppurtunity to have some fun with friends, but that is going to be one SAD barbecue.

I'm talking basically kebobs of vegetables for 2 hours.

Toss some corn on there

I'm so glad my parents are not vegetarians! But my gf's are so I'll keep my mouth shut when I am with them 😛

BTW can Indians eat absolutely no beef, poultry, seafood at all?

What is the reason behind their belief of that? (curious)

Do the animals have spirits too?

Hindus don't eat beef. read

Ideally we're supposed to be vegetarian... but many have become more lenient.

As for the BBQ's.... I totally know what you mean. At my house, half the guests won't even touch SOY dogs/burgers because they don't trust them. It's all kabobed veggies, baked potatos, bread(toasted) and corn. Sometimes portebello burgers too.

I'm hindu - I eat pretty much everything(including beef, good juicy steak > *) - other than like weird organs and crap

edit: other indians do look at me funny though like i commited a sin or something - i just smile and enjoy my steak.

I am Hindu and I love Outback steak house. Most of the people from India are from either from Gujrat or South and incidentally, that's where the most vegetarians are from. To the OP, I dont know why your family is having a BBQ, they should stick to eating daal chawal

Do you know how to pluralize abbreviations? 😉

gfs'

point?

To be fair, in America "GF's" is considered the appropriate way to punctuate the plural of an abbreviation. Just like IRA's, WMD's, BBQ's and the like.

I prefer the British way of doing it, by omitting the apostrophe. Thus, the plural of GF would be "GFs". It eliminates the confusion that Koing's post caused.

Unfortunately, "GFs' " isn't correct unless you're making the possessive of plural girlfriends.

Anyway... yeah... barbeque is good, and stuff... Grammar nazi out.
