Comcast has ripped us off for the last time, their raising their rates AGAIN, $56 a month before tax for just digital clasic, no extra channels no anything, its a darn rip off. Am thinking of going with Dish Network, $25 for the top 60 pack, $10 extra for one DVR and one dual tunner reciever. Thats $20 cheaper then comcast WITH a DVR. Plus I have SBC which offers another $5 or so off for having Dish, SBC Local, SBC Long Distance, and SBC Yahoo DSL all of which we already have. Seems like such a better deal overall, will be like $100 for local, long distance, DSL, and TV. Comcast is freaking $103 or so for just TV and internet.

So who has dish and what do you think of it? Anything really special in the 120 pack over the 60? Honestly as long as I get locals, main cable channels and stuff like Sci-Fi I will be happy.

Is that tax and all? Cause I figure 39.99 + 5 for DVR. Luckily IL still doesnt tax satallite TV.

have had it for almost a year now.

I had Adelphia Digital Cable before and Dish has been a lot better, and cheaper too.

I was comparing DirecTV which I wouldn't mind, the DirecTivo is awsome, but I like that dish has dual tuner recievers so you dont have to pay the extra $5 a month for each room, can get DVR and Extra Reciever for $10, so only need 2 boxes for 4 TVs. Makes it alot cheaper.

Try here to see if you like this deal. Linky. I might be signing up with them as soon as my Comcast deal runs out.

39.99 for top 120
5.00 for additional receiver
4.98 for DVR
0.58 state/local tax
= $50.55

and our last statement said it was going up $3 next month

Ill likely order it through SBC as they give us a discount for having their services and Dish.

I love Dish. Programing is good (but fairly comparable to DirecTV), same with prices. CSRs and overall service are where they really shine imo. Every time I've had a problem (which has been 4 times in as many years) they've bent over backwards to help me. I had DirecTV for a while and from my dealings with their CSRs I reched the conclusion that they are hands down the most useless people on the planet. Anyway, my $.02

Yup -- have the dish. I have the Top 60 pack, local channels, two receivers (one of them DVR). My bill is right around 42-43 bucks. We got the same statement that it's going up few bucks a month, but meh...

Yep, we're on dishnetwork, 120 + some indian channels for my parents.

1 regular, 2 DVR, and it's really, really good. Be warned, though, I think the "top 120" contains a bunch of pointless channels/non-channels like Dish radio.

You do get the good stuff like G4TTV (used to be good...) and Comedy central, though.

I have the dish basic 60 channel package. It's pretty good. Around 35$/month for two tvs before the rate hike. I only watch it for espn and comedy central while my mom watches the food network. Sometimes I lose sat feed but a quick call with customer service resolves it. Plus they give out free PPV coupons every year or so.

60 has the scifi channel/cartoon network/espn/comedy central and it fits all my needs :)

Lets you you get some decent channels along with 50000 home shopping channels which cause Dish network to highly compress their video so if you watch it on anything bigger than a 20" tv it looks like something you would download off kazaa.

Plus they are raising the fee by $3.

wow didn't know that and I watch it on a large screen lcd rptv. There is pixelation but that's the price you pay for watching it without HDTV.

I've had it for years and I'm still very happy. I use the model 721 receiver which is dual tuner, 90 hour recording capacity. It looks fine on my tv although I still use a standard 4:3. It is a 61 inch screen though. Customer service has been great.
