So far I have only made about 60 bucks today The last two sales I had I made 200+ and 300+. And it doesn't matter how cheap you have something, people will low ball you!

That's what yard sales are for, getting rid of useless crap for cheap. Cheap people walk yard sales, or ebayers looking for a profit. I would hardly be surprised at the results.

increase your prices and then tell them you'll give them a great deal on it.

That is why you always price things higher than you expect to get and allow the buyer his haggling room but keeping you from selling for pennies. If they really lowball then you just thank them while refusing their offer. If they really want it they are going to buy it because most things at yard sales are so cheap to begin with no one is going to care about a few bucks on something they truly want.

Yep

I got a new Linksys BEFSR41 for $2 and some Netgear wireless router for $5 last week at a garage sale.

Now you have discovered what has been common in retail for years - price tags!

yeap. i always do. if they say no i raise it a little.

though last time i went out (it was a community garage sale) the prices where high. I think they were given a price to sale stuff at. because EVERY sale in the area had prices roughly the same.

That's what yardsales are for! Bargaining. I knew a lady that got a computer, monitor, printer, desk, all for $5. That's right, five dollars. It was a 1Ghz computer infected to hell with spyware and XP, but $5. Apparently she bargained it down from $50 too (she's an old lady, that's probably how she got away with it).

An old lady should only need a 1 Ghz processor.

OMG people are so cheap, I put out some old(but nice shirts) of mine today. This lady pulls up and asks about a Tommy Hilfiger 3-button pullover and a Nautica pullover, she was like "How much?". I told her two bucks for both, and these are like 50-60 dollar shirts and in great shape, and she was like well I was thinking a dollar for both and when I told her no she was shocked, she couldn't believe it and told me good luck! And I just sold a guy a 12 inch Kicker Competition sub and box for 10 bucks, he got a good damn deal!

my wife is great, she won't haggle over a single thing, she gets several items, and then makes a "bulk" offer

btw, no price tags usually means we won't buy as much, spend the 50 cents and an hour pricing stuff.

The other thing is that some folks way overprice/value stuff. Are you having a yard sale to make money, or get rid of junk?

BTW, we NEVER haggle at a "benefit" yard sale (in fact, we might pay more then they ask for some things).

I read somewhere that those are the best yard sales to steal stuff. One person just asks lots of prices and while the owner is distracted, another person sneaks stuff away.

Are you saying that some people actually have a "technique" for stealing crap from yardsales?!? Thats a new low for criminals.

People understand that you are having this yard sale to get rid of your crap. Crap that you don't want anymore. And they know that you know that this is probably the last chance in a while for you to get rid of it. So they know they can haggle.

I don't give people deals unless they are buying multiple things. Then I might add it up and say "Give you all of it for $xxx" where I give them a bit off. But yes, most people just want stuff for nothing.

There are people who go around buying yard sale stuff, only to turn around and have their own yard sale next week, selling what they buy at a profit. That's why some people chisle you down.

Yeah, at a yard sale once we had a coat for sale for $2.... a measly two dollars for a decent military-style coat. A guy offered $1 - one dollar! - for the thing. People are crazy, I do declare. I bet he was happy to save a dollar...
